2006 – 2007 Chesapeake EWB Officer Positions
The CHESAPEAKE EWB positions for the Executive Committee span for 1 year from
April to April. The 2006 year will span April 10, 2006 to April 9, 2007.
In addition to the roles and responsibilities described below, officer candidates
should be members in good standing who have demonstrated commitment, active
service and leadership to the CHESAPEAKE EWB (Chapter), and who are committed
to furthering the EWB mission. Candidates should be willing to fulfill the
roles and responsibilities of the office for which they are running, as well
as the general duties of being an officer. General duties include:
- Attending CHESAPEAKE EWB monthly meetings
- service, fund raising or social)
- Participating in ongoing communications (email, phone) amongst
the CHESAPEAKE EWB leadership about issues of interest - Making every effort to provide opportunities for a variety of
members to become involved, and to groom future CHESAPEAKE EWB leadership - Participating in CHESAPEAKE EWB’s Project(s); voluntary
or when necessary - Active Membership with EWB-USA. (http://www.ewb-usa.org/)

Executive Committee is made up of the President, Vice President, Treasurer,
Secretary, and TAC Lead.
Position Term of Office Roles & Responsibilities
President (Term: 1 year)
- Responsible for the overall management and administration
of the Chapter - Spokesperson for the association to the membership, the general
public and the press - In charge of all administrative duties, including supervision
of any paid staff or consultants and execution of all contracts or other
obligations in the name of the organization - Calls meetings of the officers or general membership committees
as necessary - Serves as a member of the Executive and Officer Nominating
Committees - In case of the absence or disability of an appointed officer,
performs the duties of that officer - After completion of 1 year term, serves as Immediate Past
President for the following year President-elect 1 year
Vice President (Term: 1 year)
- Manages and maintains Chapter members and non-executive committees
for the year - Serves as a member of the Executive and Officer Nominating
Committees - In case of the absence or disability of an appointed President
performs the duties of that officer (as Acting President).
Treasurer (Term: 1 year)
- Responsible for financial oversight for the Chapter’s
finances - Provides regular reports to the Executive Committee & Chapter
members on financial status - Works with the Executive Committee to provide a yearly budget
for the organization - Provides regular updates on the organization’s financial
progress and accuracy with the aim of increasing the financial health of
the organization - Ensures accounts are up to date, payments to accounts (e.g.
web hosting, advertising, etc); and management of EWB USA’s appropriation
of funds to CHESAPEAKE EWB (from memberships & fund raising activities,
etc.) - Serves as a member of the Executive and Officer Nominating
Committees
Secretary (Term: 1 year)
- Keeps minutes at the meetings and distributes the minutes
in a timely fashion - Maintains the directory of members and officers and provides
updates as needed - Alerts officers & members of meetings
- Serves as a member of the Executive and Officer Nominating
Committees
TAC (Technical Advisory Committee) Lead (Term: 1 year)
- Leads the TAC Committee for the CHESAPEAKE EWB Chapter.
- Work closely with local EWB Universities (i.e. UMD, Hopkins,
Howard, etc) associated to CHESAPEAKE EWB to review project designs prior
to formal EWB USA submission. - Work closely with EWB USA in the development of an East Coast
TAC Committee - Participates in all Executive Committee meetings as related
to CHESAPEAKE EWB. - Serves as a member of the Executive and Officer Nominating
Committees
Student Liaison Lead (Term: 1 year)
- Acts on behalf of the Chapter at the University lead EWB meetings.
- Work closely with local EWB Universities (i.e. UMD, Hopkins,
Howard, etc) to facilitate the interface with to CHESAPEAKE EWB and provide
a outreach for project designs reviews (via TAC) prior to formal EWB USA
submission. - Participates in all Executive Committee meetings as related
to CHESAPEAKE EWB. - Serves as a member of the Executive and Officer Nominating
Committees
Fund Raising Lead (Term: 1 year)
- Responsible for the annual corporate fund raising drive, including
developing solicitation strategies, follow-up and acknowledgement - Expected to use every available opportunity to encourage donations
from individuals and corporations - Works closely with the Executive Committee on all Fund Raising
related strategies and materials - Manages and maintains Fund Raising committee efforts for the
year
Project Lead (Term: 1 year)
- Works closely with Executive Committee, previous & active
Project Leads and Faculty Advisor(s)to plan & coordinate planning of
future Projects for upcoming year. - Responsible for oversight/ensuring CHESAPEAKE EWB web site’s
Active & Future Project Listings remains current & is maintained
monthly. - Queries CHESAPEAKE EWB members to identify future team leads
and co-leads for upcoming projects. - Maintains Chapter project data base and ensure the Communications
Lead and Web Master have current status of Projects.
Web Master (Term: 1 year)
- Works closely with Executive Committee to plan & coordinate
web site ( http://chesapeakeewb.org). - Responsible for oversight/ensuring CHESAPEAKE EWB web site remains
current & is maintained monthly. - Coordinates with both the Communications & Project Leads
to populates web site with current project data. - Web hosting upgrades and technical maintenance to ensure web
site remains secure, down loads react timely, and site remains current with
latest technologies.
Membership/ Communications Lead (Term: 1 year)
- Works closely with the other officers in order to ensure
that there is an inherent value to CHESAPEAKE EWB membership, whether through
networking opportunities, corporate visibility or other means - Responsible for the annual corporate membership drive, including
developing solicitation strategies, follow-up and gift acknowledgement - Works closely with the Executive Committee to plan and coordinate
communications and outreach efforts with program and service activities - Responsible for all CHESAPEAKE EWB materials needed by the
organization, including brochures, membership forms, etc. - Responsible for working with the website manager to ensure
communications are current on the web site. - Writes and distributes all press releases, subject to the
Executive Committees approval of the final copy - Creates, manages and maintains a communications committee of active
members to plan and execute communications efforts for the year
