			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Come see 43 teams compete for &#8220;Phase 2&#8243; funding as they demonstrate their innovative ideas to promote  &#8220;people, prosperity, and the planet&#8221; as part of the U.S. EPA&#8217;s P3 program to promote sustainability in the developed and developing world. The 5th Annual <a title="blocked::http://www.epa.gov/ncer/p3//ncer/p3/expo/index.html" href="https://mail.bv.com/OWA/redir.aspx?C=af3eae5726f84d1eafd09427d18a7199&amp;URL=http%3a%2f%2fwww.epa.gov%2fncer%2fp3%2fncer%2fp3%2fexpo%2findex.html" target="_blank"> National Sustainable Design Expo</a> is scheduled to take place on the National Mall in Washington, DC, on April 18-20, 2009.   The public enjoy our nation&#8217;s capital and mingle through booths set up by Universities from throughout the nation, including a booth set up by a team from the Johns Hopkins University, relating to the sustainable irrigation project undertaken by JHU&#8217;s Engineers Without Borders student chapter.</p>
<p>Some of the ideas to be presented this year are:</p>
<p>1) Implementing ram pump technology for agriculture in South Africa (booth by Johns Hopkins!)<br />
2) Designing and building algaculture facitilities<br />
3) Development of anaerobic digestors for implementation in Ecuador<br />
4) Utilizing prarie switch grass for conversion to biofuels<br />
5) Studying the use of iron containing enzymes for bioremediation<br />
6) Development of solar powered desalinition<br />
7) Assessment of efficacy of green roofs in Southern California</p>
