Sorry for the long time lag between the event and the photos, but pictures from our March surveying workshop are now online. Anyone interested can go to our Past Events page to see more details. Many thanks go to Sebastian, Paul, J.D., Carlos, James and to all the other organizers and teachers who made the event possible. And many thanks also go to ACE Services for their sponsorship of the event.
Our new chapter secretary David Leslie attended the CWEA Stormwater Seminar on May 17 on behalf of our chapter. While there he answered questions from over 150 attendees about how to become more involved with EWB.

Here’s a good example of how family and friends can help benefit to our project in El Toro, Argentina. Members of our current VP’s (Paul Hlavinka) family organized a successful rummage sale at the United Church of Christ in Traill County, North Dakota. This fundraiser brought in over $500 for our project! Our chapter would like to sincerely thank Mrs. Hlavinka and the members of the United Church of Christ for all of their efforts. Please see the attached scan of the local newspaper article for more details.
Tuesday’s meeting will be at Howard Community College, Columbia, room ST 222 at 7:30 pm. The campus map can be accessed through the following link:

The University of MD, College Park Chapter of EWB-USA Brazil Project Team is in need of a professional mentor (or mentors!) to assist with the design and implementation of a potable water system to supply a school of approximately 110 students on Ilha das Peças, Brazil. The project is currently in the design phase and the team is hoping to travel with a professional mentor in summer of this year for the first stage of project implementation.
A detailed project description can be found here:
http://www.ewb.umd.edu/projects/brazil-2010 .
A mentor with a background in potable water treatment and conveyance would be very helpful; PE license is a plus but not mandatory. (If you are unable to travel, the team would still be very glad to have local design assistance.) If you are interested in helping out or would like to learn more, please email Project Leader Alex Ferrufino at ferru.ale@gmail.com and Chapter Advisor Dr. David Lovell at lovell@umd.edu.
